IAAM A Conference Champions: Bryn Mawr School

IAAM A Conference Champions: Bryn Mawr School

The Bryn Mawr School finished their season with a fantastic overtime victory over Archbishop Spalding High School to earn the IAAM A Conference Championship.

The underdog Mawrtians won 4-3 on a penalty stroke from Cate Tortolani, her second stroke goal of the night. Addie Polakoff was responsible for the other two goals, which came from corners.

This win is Bryn Mawr’s first since 2009 and since moving up from the IAAM B Conference. They lost 3-0 to Spalding in regular season play, but the Bryn Mawr field hockey team was on the right side of the score when it mattered the most.

Bryn Mawr scored first but then found themselves behind yet ultimately able to pull back up to tie the score at 3-3 at the end of regulation. The Bryn Mawr defense played outstanding in an extremely high-level game, one in which the Mawrtians fought for the entire 60 minutes and more to upset a stellar team and achieve a season-long goal.
