We are thrilled to welcome Lauren Schulz into the Longstreth Athlete Program as the newest Gryphon Ambassador!
Lauren is a senior at Stevenson University majoring in accounting. She is coming off an incredible 2025 season earning MAC Academic Honor Roll, recorded 13 points with 3 goals and 7 assists, and helped lead Stevenson to the 2025 MAC Commonwealth Championship and the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance!

What stick do you use and why do you choose it?
I chose the Gryphon Tour Pro 25 because of the balance of power and finesse, which complements my playing style. It allows me to hit through to my teammates with confidence, while still possessing with control in small spaces.
Do you have a grip preference? If so, which grip and why do you like it?
I prefer to use a chamois grip layered on top of the classic grip because of the confidence it gives me to carry the ball in any element.
How long have you been playing field hockey and what made you first want to start playing?
I have been playing since I was five years old. My mom played recreationally through college; the apple does not fall very far from the tree! Field hockey quickly became my passion, and I have loved it from the start.
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
A big glass of electrolytes in the morning and, most importantly, before we start warm-ups, a 3D passing circle at mid-field.
What's your go-to pre-game meal?
Not any specific meal, but a MUST is Oh Snap! Dilly Bites and an Orange Gatorade Zero halfway through warm-ups.
What is your go-to game day hairstyle?
Easily a simple pony with a half-braided ponytail.

Aggressive, tactical, versatile
What do you like to do when you are not playing field hockey?
When I am not playing, I am either out shopping, traveling, or spending time with family and friends!
Do you have any game day superstitions?
I am VERY superstitious… For every game, I must wear the same “gameday” HocSocx, spandex, sports bra, and hairstyle.
What is your favorite motivational quote?
If it was easy, everyone would do it.
If you could give your younger self a piece of advice, what would it be?
Be proud of yourself and how far you have come. Yes, you have big goals and bigger destinations but enjoy the journey and realize how far you have come already. Just because you can notice how much you have accomplished does NOT make you complacent. Shoot for the stars but know how proud you should be of what you have done.
What is your favorite field hockey memory?
Winning our conference tournament (MAC) for the first time in program history.
