Rowan is a sophomore at Ohio University majoring in Sports Management. Known for her dynamic style of play, she credits her strong elimination skills and field vision as two of her biggest strengths on the field.

What stick do you use and why do you choose it?
I use the Tour Pro 25 stick because of its late bow, and gentle yet powerful touch. The late bow helps me with overheads and 3D skills. The gentle touch is great for receiving in the back or in the pockets in the midfield. The power/carbon of the stick helps me with sweeps and shots.
Do you have a grip preference? If so, which grip and why do you like it?
I love a chamois grip.
How long have you been playing field hockey and what made you first want to start playing?
I have been playing field hockey since I was 5, so 14 years. Our high school team was well known for doing well in field hockey and winning state championships and that was a community and culture that I and my family wanted to be a part of.
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
I can’t play or even warm up without making sure my shoes are tied perfectly and are both tightened the same.
What's your go-to pre-game meal?
I love to have either a wrap, rice cakes with peanut butter, or for a nice snack, a Stroop energy waffle.
What is your go-to game day hairstyle?
A slick back bun or ponytail.
Favorite pump-up song(s) to listen to before a game?
Anything that gets played in the locker room or any Kesha songs.
Describe your playing style in three words?
Distribution, field vision, and elimination skills.
What do you like to do when you are not playing field hockey?
I love to hang out with my friends, family, and my dog, as well as listening to music and getting coffee or ice cream. I also enjoy outdoor activities like going on walks, runs, and hikes.
What is your favorite motivational quote?
“The hardest thing to do is work hard when no one is watching.”
If you could give your younger self a piece of advice, what would it be?
Continue doing what you’re doing and don’t let anyone take away your love for the sport.
What is your favorite field hockey memory?
When my team (Ohio University) beat a top 10 team in the NCAA and our conference this past year. It was an unforgettable moment, and it was so much fun.
